CHI's Computer Vision Technology on the Manhattan Bridge

CHI Consulting Engineers

The following video showcases the application of Computer Vision technology to effectively measure the vertical displacements of the bridge's trusses with high accuracy. Each notable spike in the data corresponds to the passage of a train, with the most significant spike, approximately 26 inches high, resulting from two trains crossing the main suspension span simultaneously. This video, shot from about 1,500 feet away, offers a wealth of information on the bridge's behaviors under loads. Special acknowledgment goes to the team at CHI for their innovative in-house program designed to monitor structural movements efficiently.
